Stakeholder Events 2007
- 23 Nov 2007 - Birmingham - Mitigation measures defining good ecological potential for Heavily Modified Water Bodies (HMWBs) and Artificial Modified Water Bodies (AWBs)
The workshop provided a summary of the requirements to set the ecological objective of Good Ecological Potential (GEP) for HMWBs and AWBs under the Water Framework Directive.
The workshop informed stakeholders of the trialling work that has been carried out by the sectors (Ports, Navigation, Water Resources, Hydropower and Flood Risk Management) and UKTAG, to classify whether water bodies are at or below GEP.
The workshop provided stakeholders with:
- an overview of the sector specific mitigation measures, and their role in classifying GEP
- outputs from ongoing trialling of the method to define GEP
- sector specific examples of how GEP is defined
